Alexander Cambridge, 1st Earl of Athlone
Born Alexander Augustus Frederick William Alfred George, Prince of Teck or Prinz von Teck in German. Together with his elder brother he relinquished his German titles in 1917, insteat choosing the surname “Cambridge”. He was created 1st Earl of Athlone the same year. Known to his family as “Alge”.
Son of of Franz, Herzog von Teck (1837-1900), himself a morganatic son of Alexander, Duke of Württemberg (1804-1885), and Princess Mary Adelaide of Cambridge (1833-1897)

Married: St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle 10. Feb 1904 Princess Alice of Albany (1883-1981), daughter of Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany (1853-1884) and Helene, Princess of Waldeck-Pyrmont (1861-1922).
