Willem I of the Netherlands

Born Willem Frederik, Prince of Orange. Succeded his father as head of the House of Orange-Nassau in 1806 as Willem VI, Prince of Orange Nassau. Proclaimed himself King of the Netherlands in 1815 as Willem I. Also became Grand Duke of Luxemburg in 1815. Abdicated in 1840 in favor of his son.

Son of Willem V. Prince of Orange, Stadtholder of the Netherlands (1748-1806) and his  wife Wilhelmine, Princess of Prussia (1751-1820)

2. (morg.) Berlin 17. Feb 1841 Henriette Comtesse d’Oultremont de Wegimont, created Comtesse de Nassau (1792-1864), former lady-in-waiting of his deceased wife
