Anne of Great Britain and Ireland

Born Anna, Duchess of Brunswick-Lüneburg, became Princess of Great Britain and Ireland in 1714, when her grandfather George I. ascended tot he British throne. Styled Princess Royal in 1727. Acted as regent for her son from 1751 until her death.

Daughter of George II. King of Great Britain and Ireland (1683-1760) and his wife Caroline Markgravine of Brandenburg-Ansbach (1683-1737).

Born: Herrenhausen Palace, Hanover 2. Nov 1709.

Baptised: Herrenhausen Palace 2. Nov 1709. Named for her grandfather’s second cousin, Queen Anne of Great Britain.

Married: Chapel Royal, St. James’s Palace, London 25. Mar 1734 Willem IV. Prince of Orange-Nassau (1711-1751), son of Johan Willem Friso, Prine of Orange (1687-1711) and Marie Louise, Landgravine of Hesse-Kassel (1688-1765).
