Illegitimate daughter of Anna Feodorovna, Grand Duchess of Russia (née Juliane Princes of Saxe-Coburg and Saalfeld) (1781-1860) by her chamberlain Rudolf Abraham von Schiferli (1775-1837). Adopted by the d’Aubert family in 1821.
