Anna Leopoldovna of Russia
Born Elisabeth Katharina Christine, Princess of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Took the name “Anna Leopoldovna” upon her conversion to Russian Orthodoxy.
After the death of her aunt, Empress Anna Ivanovna, Anna Leopoldovna became regent for her baby son Ivan in 1740-1741.
Daughter of Karl Leopold Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1678-1747) by his first wife Yekaterina Ivanovna Tsarevna of Russia (1692-1733)

Married: 3. Jul 1739 Anton Ulrich Duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel (1714-1774), son of Ferdinand Albert II Duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel (1680-1735) by his wife and first cousin once removed, Antoinette Amalie Duchess of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel (1696-1762).
