John Campbell, 9th Duke of Argyll
Born John George Edward Henry Douglas Sutherland Campbell, Earl of Campbell. Assumed the courtesy title Marquess of Lorne in 1847 when his father succeeded as Duke of Argyll and succeeded as 9th Duke of Argyll in 1900.
Son of George Campbell, 8th Duke of Argyll (1823-1900) and his first wife Lady Elizabeth Leweson-Gower (1824-1878), daughter of George Sutherland-Leweson-Gower, 2nd Duke of Sutherland (1786-1861).
