Son of Konstantinos I King of the Hellenes (1868-1923) and his wife, Sophie, Princess of Prussia (1870-1932)

Married: Athens 9. Jan 1938 Friederike, Princess of Hannover (1917-1981), his first cousin once removed, daughter of Ernst August, Duke of Brunswick, Prince of Hanover etc. (1887-1953) and Viktoria Luise, Princess of Prussia (1892-1980)

Died: Tatoi Palace near Athens 6. Mar 1964 after an operation for stomach cancer
